(SPOT.ph) In 2022, we saw the local pizza scene reach new heights as three pizza spots in Manila made it to Italian guide 50 Top Pizza's coveted Asia-Pacific list: Crosta Pizzeria, a mano, and Wildflour Italian. Things continued to heat up in the years that followed, with these pizzerias continuing to be part of the /2023 and 2024 editions of the continent-wide list, as well as its World counterpart. It looks like their momentum isn't stopping anytime soon. The 2025 edition of 50 Top Pizza's Asia-Pacific list is out, once again with Crosta, a mano, and Wildflour Italian, as well as Cebu's Minante Pizzeria.
Pizzerias in the Philippines 50 Top Pizza's Asia-Pacific list for 2025
50 Top Pizza held the awarding ceremony earlier today, March 10, at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Tokyo, Japan. Prior to the awarding proper, a special tribute was given to the late Chef Margarita Forés, to whom the event was dedicated. "She will be remembered fondly by all of us."
A newcomer on the list, repping Cebu on the 48th spot, is Minante Pizzeria—the first pizzeria certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in the area, owned by chefs Matteo Minante and Jan Rodriguez. 50 Top Pizza calls their outpost in Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue a "small, charming, and very well-kept place" serving "good pasta dishes and especially [good] Neapolitan pizza." "[They make use of] good quality products, a long leavening and careful cooking. Few and simple steps, but of fundamental importance to obtain an optimal result." 50 Top Pizza's top pick from their menu is none other than the classic margherita, which is "very well-made" with the "right distribution of tomato and mozzarella."
Minante is also praised for their "high-level drink proposal" and "friendly" staff, as well as the "absolutely higher quality" of their food amid prices being average for the city.
Wildflour Italian in Taguig (which has rebranded to Osteria Antica and moved to The Podium) was 38th in 2022, 35th in /2023, and 47th in 2024; this year they are 42nd. 50 Top Pizza hails the Wildflour Group-owned dining spot as "one of the establishments that offers the best quality and guarantees," serving pizza that's "prepared to perfection, with a thick and fluffy crust that is well-leavened and carefully baked" then given toppings either "inspired by Neapolitan pizza" or with a more "usion gourmet personality that also pay homage to local gastronomic traditions."
"The [Wildflour Italian] menu includes a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, both dry and stuffed pasta, meats, vegetable sides, and classic desserts like tiramisu, lemon puddings, and gelato," writes 50 Top Pizza. "The drink menu is also well-stocked. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere, along with the hospitable and professional service, make for a wonderful Italian dining experience."
a mano has progressively climbed ranks every year: they were 48th in 2022, 15th in /2023, 12th in 2024, and now 7th in 2025. Owner Amado Forés' love for Italy shines through in the restaurant's selection of pasta, risotto, and of course, pizza (described to be "fragrant and well-leavened" and of a style that's "a mix between traditional Neapolitan and contemporary"), 50 Top Pizza writes. The guide praises their "selection of products that would make any Italian restaurant envious, in terms of quality," as way as the way a mano's Chef Jonathan Redoblado has "succeeded in standardizing the product in [all of their four branches]". A must-try according to 50 Top Pizza is their pizza with raspadura, shaved from a giant wheel of Grana Padano into ribbons right upon serving; and the "truly delicious" spaghetti carbonara and tagliatelle bolognese.
ICYMI, a mano was also No. 96 on the 50 Top Pizza World list in /2023, and No. 70 in 2024 (aside from bagging the Best Pasta Proposal 2024 Pastificio Di Martino Award!).
Finally, in the 5th rank (sharing the position with SHOP225 in Melbourne) is Crosta Pizzeria, led by Chef Yuichi Ito. Crosta was 32nd in 2022, 10th in /2023, and 2nd in 2024. On the World edition of the list, they were 54th in /2023, and 12th in 2024.
50 Top Pizza calls them a "truly unique little pizzeria" with "few seats, pizza and high-quality products, and a selection of wines available by the glass." The awarding body commends the way they unite three sensibilities: co-owners Ingga S. Cabangon Chua (who knows her pizza dough) and Thomas Woudwyk (a wine enthusiast himself), as well as Chef Yuichi Ito who received the Pizza Maker of the Year 2024 Ferrarelle Award in the same list last year. "The doughs are of different styles and all of excellent quality. The toppings range from simple and traditional to more complex ones. A must-try is the round pizza with salami, truly balanced and well-made. For dessert lovers, you can finish with a good gelato."
50 Top Pizza is an online guide updated annually, listing the "best pizzerias in the world" of different styles. Included in their assessment criteria are the pizza; the service; the space, ambiance, and decor; the wait (e.g., how the "flow of customers is managed" in the restaurant); the wine; the beer; and other beverages.
